100 ARCHIVES

About the Project

DATE: 24 October 2024 REF: PROJ-001 LOC: Manchester, UK

100 Archives North is an independent digital preservation initiative dedicated to cataloging the pivotal moments, objects, and industries that defined Northern England’s contribution to the modern world.

From the textile mills of Lancashire to the shipyards of the Tyne, the North of England was the crucible of the Industrial Revolution. This project aims to digitize the spirit of that age, presenting it not as a dusty relic, but as a vibrant, living broadsheet.

Mission Statement

We believe that history is best understood through the lens of specific, tangible artifacts. By selecting 100 key archives - ranging from patent letters to architectural blueprints - we construct a mosaic of a region that power-housed an empire.

Origin of Data

All data presented herein is curated from public domain records, historical societies, and verified academic sources. While we strive for absolute accuracy, this project is an artistic interpretation and educational resource, rather than a primary academic source.
